Diagnostic Imaging

It has become increasingly apparent over the past decade in the field of veterinary medicine that precise imaging of patients is imperative to obtain accurate diagnoses. Excellent diagnostic imaging also enables us to share the images with experts from around the world by e-mailing digital images promptly & efficiently.

As a result we were the first practice on the island to adopt a digital radiography system that is linked into our patients notes. Clients can see the images that we have taken of their pets on our computer screens at all our surgeries within minutes of the X-rays being taken.

The quality of the images that we produce through this system is often such that we can work very closely with our referral specialists over the internet and often have answers without the need for further specialist work up.

Laboratory Facilities

Medina Veterinary group has an excellent relationship with our external laboratory, Nationwide laboratories. They provide us with a next day service (first class post allowing), for the majority of our blood work. Pathology reports from most lumps and bumps are reported in 4-5 days.

Most blood work does have to be processed through our laboratory at Wootton first though to make it suitable for travel without losing accuracy of results. This processing is done with in an hour of taking blood and so we ask for blood sampling to be done at the Wootton branch.

diagnostic imagingIn recent years, we have invested in up to date internal lab machines. Though smaller in scope that our external provided we are able to deliver a good level of service for a great deal of our patients for in house microscopy and day to day blood work.

Our machines are specially designed for use in general practice and run quality control assessments with every sample to give us accurate answers that we can trust. Because this is in house we can run our work very rapidly and will often have results in little more than a quarter of an hour.

All of our vets use our microscope for "on the spot" assessment of some samples, though again smaller in scope that the labs this gives us a cost efficient option to get additional data for accurate diagnosis and assessment of our patients needs.
